Strap Conveyors
Strap conveyors are conveying systems in which a series of continuous straps serve as the load-carrying element. They are designed for controlled product transport where precise positioning, stable movement, and compact design are required.
The straps are driven by a dedicated drive shaft connected to a motor unit. Product movement follows a defined conveying path formed by rollers and guide elements with grooves matching the strap profile. Depending on the application and product type, different strap profiles are used, including wedge-shaped, toothed, or round profiles.
Design and Modularity
Strap conveyors feature a modular design that allows the conveyor length to be extended by adding additional sections driven from adjacent conveyor modules. This makes them suitable for both standard and non-standard layouts and for integration into complex conveyor systems.
Due to their compact construction and flexible configuration, strap conveyors are often used where conventional belt or modular conveyors are not suitable.
Application Areas
Strap conveyors are widely applied in:
-
Calibration and sorting lines for vegetables and fruits
-
Placement of boxes on freezer pallets
-
Marking and sealing stations for cartons
-
Transport of wafer sheets, pancakes, and other confectionery products
-
Elevating conveyors for boxed products
They are commonly used in food processing, packaging, freezing, labeling, and sealing operations.
Reliability and Service Life
Strap conveyors are characterized by a simple and robust design, ensuring reliable long-term operation. Integrated drive protection prevents motor overload, extending the service life of the drive components. The typical service life of the straps is approximately two years, depending on operating conditions and load characteristics.
Maintenance Requirements
Maintenance requirements are minimal and include:
-
Periodic inspection of strap wear
-
Adjustment of strap tension via integrated tensioning rollers
-
Visual inspection of fasteners and structural components
-
Regular sanitary cleaning in food-processing environments
Bearing units are lubricated for the entire service life and do not require additional maintenance. Other components, such as shafts, rollers, and frames, are maintenance-free apart from routine inspection and cleaning.
